2006 Scale Classic

Author: Bill & Luella Cousins

The 2006 Scale Classic was held in Vernon and hosted by the Vernon Model Aircraft Society. This event was held 21-22-23, {Friday, Saturday, Sunday } of July 2006. Static judging was on Friday. The planners were Mike Allman and Roly Worsfold with a little help from Diane Worsfold. The judges from the event were all local BC people. Thanks goes out to the Vernon club for their hospitality and the use of their facility. Dick Hanson Videos was on hand and always does an exceptional job. The DVD will be available in the near future.

Doug MacMillan was the craftsmanship judge, Jim McKee was the outline judge and Luella Cousins was the color and markings judge. Flight judges included Mark Bertuzzi, Jim McKee, and several others. Flight line boss was Bill Cousins. We had two flight lines and were provided with walkie talkies which worked out very well. One judge had a walkie talkie and the spotter would communicate to the judge; the judge would then communicate to the flight line boss which was extremely efficient.

The weather this year was good - too good - as temperatures rose to around the forty degree mark. A lot of water had to be consumed to keep everyone hydrated and I am sure there were a lot of sunburns resulting from the searing heat. Attendees came from as far away as Dawson Creek to the north, Vancouver Island to the west, Alberta to the east and Oregon to the south.

When the week-end wound down, the winners were as follows:
