Loose Wing Bolts
Author: Bill Cousins

Here's a tip for loose plastic wing bolts in threaded bass wood. If you are using plastic wing bolts for your wing, after a while they do become loose in the threads of the bass wood due to wear. But there is something you can do about this. If you can wiggle that bolt back and forth quite a bit when you thread it in then it is indeed loose.

This little tip can make it just like brand new threads. Using { THIN CA } run a little bit on the threads of the plastic bolt, { NOT TOO MUCH AT A TIME } then thread it in and out, but DO NOT STOP or, well you know what will happen. The best way of doing this is with an electric drill going reverse, forward until the CA is dry say a couple of minutes. When you feel it is good enough, stop and check for tightness. If you feel it to be still a little loose, repeat procedures using a VERY small amount of CA. After this procedure you will find that when you thread the plastic bolt in, it feels just like there are new threads there..

It really does work, try it, but be CAREFULL with that thin CA, it is very invisible so don't get any on your skin or scratch your nose { or anything else for that matter } or you will have your finger attached to your nose up at the emergancy room {very embarrassing} and always have a bottle of DEBONDER on hand. This is a life saver if you join two pieces of skin together, it will degrade it enough that you will be able to get your skin apart.
