Swap & Shop 2005
Author: Luella Cousins

The annual Swap & Shop was held again at the Cavalry Temple in Kamloops, BC on November 5th, 2005.

As usual the event was well attended with people coming from Vernon, Williams Lake, and Salmon Arm. Some nice planes showed up on the tables as the owners were looking for a new challenge over the winter months. Sometimes you just have to part with one of your planes so you have some room to work on something new. If you have had a catastrophe - free year, the hangar can fill up rapidly.

The event is open for anyone to secure a table and sell their wares and is hosted by the High Country Flyers. As usual, they have the grill on and serve up some good hamburgers and hot dogs.

Lester, from Lester's Hobbies in Nakusp, showed up again to help the flyers stock up on their materials for the building months. Not everyone is into flying during the winter and so they use this time to build some new planes to impress the crowd at the field in the spring.

Our zone director, Doug MacMillan, showed up from the Shuswap and had some books, videos and a foam plane for sale. Doug makes a fantastic rep for this area as he shows up at as many events as he can possibly make it to. It is always appreciated as we all know he is very approachable if we have any concerns.

As in the past, this event was a great success. Thanks must go to the High Country Flyers for hosting the event and to the congregation of the Calvary Temple for the donation of space in which to hold the event.

Until next year, keep your wings level and your landings soft.
